Dongfeng Honda Oct. sales bounce back from 8-consecutive-month YoY drop in monthly sales
Honda Motor posts a year-on-year (YoY) sales growth of 3.1% with 138,666 vehicles delivered in China last month, according to the sales data released by Honda China. For the first ten months, the Japanese automaker sold 1,103,670 vehicles in this country, which was 5.8% less than that of the previous year.
In October, GAC Honda came across a YoY drop of 4.2% with its sales totaling 67,285 units. The sales of Honda branded cars reached 66,358 units, falling 3.3% over a year ago. Over half models witnessed YoY drop in monthly sales. Especially, the sales of the VEZEL, one of the three models whose October sales exceeding 10,000 units, slid 14.3% from the previous year. However, the Accord and the Fit, the other two models with 10,000 units-plus monthly sales, had YoY sales jump of 34.4% and 29.3% respectively.
Although the sales of the MDX and the RDX skyrocketed 133.3% and 246.7% from the year-ago period respectively, their absolutely small sales quantity failed to offset the sharp drop made by the CDX, thus the total sales of the Acura brand still faced a substantial YoY drop of 43.4%.
After suffering YoY decline in monthly sales for 8 consecutive months since the CR-V engine issue was broke out, Dongfeng Honda achieved an evident YoY growth of 11.2% with 71,381 vehicles handed over last month. It is noteworthy that the INSPIRE all-new sedan, who hit the market on October 25, has had a sales volume of 51 units. We shall wait to see how it performs on market in the future.
