Geely, CASIC likely to join forces to develop hyperloop train
Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely) and China Aerospace Science & Industry Corp. (CASIC) had a discussion on June 8 about industrial cooperation and the commercialization of aerospace research achievements.
CASIC is willing to make full use of its merits in aeronautic defense, intelligent manufacturing and industrial connectivity and integrate them with Geely's mature marketing capability and commercialized operation so as to industrialize the research achievements and generate economy benefits, according to Gao Hongwei, chairman of CASIC.
At the meeting, both parties decided to start cooperation as soon as possible in such areas as industrial connectivity and hyperloop train, a new, futuristic type of transport which would operate via supersonic "near ground flight". Besides, they discussed the potential to extend collaboration in developing self-driving system, vehicle-mounted chip, automotive blockchain application, IoV (Internet of Vehicles) etc.
Geely recently had frequent moves in high-speed rail field. On June 7, the Hangzhou-based company and Chinese Internet giant Tencent won the joint bidding to obtain 49% equity in Bullet Train Network Technology Co.,Ltd (Bullet Train Network), which offers Wi-Fi service to high-speed rail passengers across China.
In addition to provide railway passengers with Wi-Fi access, Geely and Tencent will join force with China Railway Corporation (China Railway) and its affiliated companies to build a one-stop platform offering various value-added services throughout China's high-speed rail network, such as ticket, shopping, tourism and catering, etc., according to Geely's announcement.
